Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy trucks and equipment at our Burr Ridge facility. You will inspect, repair, and document work on class 6–8 tractors, ensuring safety and reliability.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, US work authorization, and your own maintenance tools, plus proficiency with diagnostic software. 2 years diesel experience preferred; strong tool handling is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains systems on class 6, 7, and 8 powered tractors.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs mechanical, electrical, and systems.
• Uses hydraulic jacks to access underneath vehicles.
• Assists in engine, transmission, differential, and spring replacements.
• Troubleshoots heavy-duty truck engines, braking, electrical, and exhaust.
• Documents repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
• Tests vehicles after repairs to ensure proper function.
