Job summary

Saia Motor Freight Line LLC is hiring a diesel mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy-duty trucks (class 6–8). The role requires reading and interpreting manuals, using diagnostic software, and working with a team to ensure vehicles are safe and road-ready.

The position involves hands-on mechanical work, inspecting and repairing engines, transmissions, and electrical systems, and documenting all maintenance actions. On-site work with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language to perform tasks and review documents.
• Preferred: 2 years of diesel mechanic experience.
• Preferred: Proficiency in diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains systems and parts on class 6, 7, and 8 powered tractors.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs the vehicle's mechanical, electric, and other systems.
• Uses hydraulic jacks to access underneath vehicles.
• Assists in the replacement of engines, transmissions, differentials, and springs.
• Documents and repairs inspections and maintenance tasks.
• Tests vehicles after repairs to ensure proper function.
