Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic in the Dallas area to perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy-duty vehicles.

You will work on class 6–8 tractors, diagnose issues, and assist in engine and transmission replacements while documenting all work and coordinating with teammates. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 2 years of diesel experience, and the ability to read and follow English instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend English to perform job tasks and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains systems and parts on class 6, 7, and 8 powered tractors.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs the vehicle’s mechanical, electric, and systems.
• Uses hydraulic jacks to gain access underneath vehicles.
• Assists in the replacements of engines, transmissions, differentials, and springs.
• Troubleshoots repairs of heavy-duty truck engines, braking, electrical, and exhaust systems.
• Documents and repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaborates with partners for training and assistance on complex repairs.
• Tests vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functioning.
