Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Hartford, CT is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty trucks on the second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm). The role offers hourly pay of $38.75, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for bonuses and advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational/Technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
• Must have basic tools and be able to perform preventive maintenance.
• Experience repairing diesel engines including routine maintenance and brake/tire work.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical systems including AC.
• CDL Class A preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with heavy- and medium-duty equipment.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months, pass drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Completes inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the issue.
• Uses Shop Management System and documentation.
• Follows safety, DOT, MOT and corporate guidelines.
• Mentors Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
• Supports additional duties as needed.
