Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in South Plainfield, NJ. You will perform vehicle maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, with a second shift from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine maintenance.
• Two years or more of classroom training and/or work experience in required experience.
• CDL Class A preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, road test, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems with diagnostic computer where applicable.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the issue.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Adheres to safety, DOT, and MOT guidelines.
