Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Jackson, Michigan on the second shift, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm, with weekly pay and strong benefits.

Responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy‑duty trucks using state‑of‑the‑art tools, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance.
• Two years or more of classroom training or work experience preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical and road test, plus background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of failures and performs repairs as required.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Works in compliance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations.
