Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Landover, Maryland is seeking a mid-level Diesel Technician to maintain heavy-duty trucks and provide reliable service. The role offers weekly pay, medical/dental/vision coverage after 30 days, PTO from day one, 401(k) match, and tuition assistance.

You’ll work the second shift 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with access to state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electronic problems, performing preventive

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certifications preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• 2+ years of related training and work experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the task.
• Uses Shop Management System and documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
