Job summary

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking a Diesel Technician Lead in Dallas, TX. This safety-sensitive role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, with responsibilities including running diagnostic tests, identifying failures, and replacing transmissions or third member assemblies as needed.

The Lead will guide other technicians to ensure equipment safety and efficiency, and provide repair-related advice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Certificate or technical training in diesel mechanics preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive diesel technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT inspections and repairs on company vehicles and machinery.
• Use hand tools and powered equipment with safety in mind.
• Diagnose malfunctions using diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics.
• Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and identify remaining issues.
• Diagnose and replace parts, valves, bearings, assemblies as needed, incl. A/C systems.
• Apply knowledge of diesel emissions in repair work.
• Ensure parts meet factory specs by checking clearances and dimensions.
• Collaborate with and guide other technicians as needed.

Job Summary

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking a Diesel Technician Lead. This safety-sensitive position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. The primary responsibilities include running diagnostic tests, identifying failures, and resolving issues, which may involve larger tasks such as replacing transmissions and third member assemblies. Diesel Technician Leads will collaborate with and guide other team members to ensure that equipment is safe and operating efficiently. Additionally, this position will provide support and offer advice on repair-related matters.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform thorough DOT inspections and repairs on Company vehicles and machines.
• Use different hand tools and powered equipment, such as impact wrenches, welding equipment, hoists, jacks, etc. to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions.
• Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using electronic diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics, and then efficiently making those repairs.
• Test drive vehicles to identify problems and to verify that equipment has been repaired properly.
• Diagnose and replace parts, valves, bearings, assemblies, etc. as needed, including heating and A/C systems
• Utilize knowledge of diesel emissions and diagnostics to accurately repair issues.
• Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair preferred.
• 5 years or more of professional, progressive experience as a diesel technician
• Excellent interpersonal, organization, logistics, math, and communication skills
• Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance problems
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Experienced and proficient working with diagnostic computers
• Knowledge of working on trailers
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work well with team members in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of forklift repair and maintenance is a plus
• Commercial Driver’s License is a plus

Physical Demands

• Must be able to perform frequent bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, parts, and freight weighing up to 80 pounds for a distance of up to 20 feet.
• Must be able to frequently reach objects at waist level or above shoulder height.
• Must be able to open and close cargo doors and to climb into and out of vehicles.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
