Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. in North Bergen, NJ is seeking an experienced Technician II to perform preventive maintenance and repairs across diverse OEM equipment. You’ll work independently on major and minor repairs, contribute to diagnostics, and mentor newer technicians while continuing to learn from seasoned peers.

Qualifications

• 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); ASE 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Experienced using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to solve problems and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must follow Penske safety policies (DOT/OSHA) and use required PPE.
• Must maintain DOT driver qualification file; DOT drug screening for CDL holders.
• Willingness to travel within district as needed.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Performing preventive maintenance services with little supervision.
• Repairing and troubleshooting engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and fuel system components.
• Keeping work area clean and safe.
• Using Penske tools to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.
• Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
