Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Springfield, IL is seeking a skilled Technician to provide technical service on trucks and engines, perform repairs, and install components.

The role requires 5 years of Class 7/8 experience, a valid driver’s license, and relevant OEM certifications; training and advancement are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years’ experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets insurability guidelines.
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, and/or ASE certifications are preferred and rewarded.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components.
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
  • Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, and transmissions.
  • Read job orders and assess vehicle operation to plan procedures.
  • Inspect guards, bolts and safety devices and adjust as needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and test drive to verify conformance to specs.
  • Attend training classes and stay current with factory bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer relationships.
