Job summary

Penske is seeking a skilled Technician in Portland, OR to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet. You’ll work with modern equipment, learn Penske’s maintenance processes, and gain access to industry-certified training.

Ideal candidates have at least 1–2 years of automotive repair experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong teamwork and customer-service skills. This on-site role offers a stable career path and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Adherence to Penske safety and maintenance policies (DOT/OSHA).
  • Willingness to pass background checks, drug screen and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engines.
  • Partnering with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
