Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an experienced diesel technician to service trucks, engines and components at our U.S. locations. You will perform repairs, overhauls and part installations, reading job orders to determine procedures and ensuring safety during work.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 5 years of Class 7/8 shop experience, a valid driver’s license, and ASE or manufacturer certifications are preferred. Training and advancement opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years’ experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Current and valid driver license with insurability.
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins and/or ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components.
  • Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
  • Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, transmissions and other parts.
  • Read job orders and determine malfunction to plan work procedures.
  • Examine safety devices and make adjustments as needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance.
  • Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers.
