Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Obetz, Ohio, is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles on second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm), Tuesday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routines like oil changes, brake and tire work.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Adheres to safety, DOT, MOT and corporate guidelines.
