Job summary

Casella Waste Systems seeks a Diesel Technician Apprentice to learn alongside a knowledgeable Casella Waste Diesel Technician, performing maintenance on vehicles and equipment with a focus on preventive maintenance and safety.

Starting pay is $23–$25 per hour with a $2,000 annual tool allowance. The program advances through Technician Apprentice to Technician B and Technician A, emphasizing hands-on training, safety, and timely completion of training requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license (Class A, B, or C).
• Basic knowledge or experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment diagnostics and repair.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Learn maintenance techniques and parts knowledge from seasoned technicians.
• Complete work orders and perform preventive maintenance based on inspections.
• Follow safety policies and regulations for safe operations.
• Assist senior technicians with preventative Maintenance Inspections.
• Support larger projects and learn to identify defects.
• Perform brake, clutch, hydraulic adjustments and tire changes.
• Learn lockout/tagout procedures.
• Participate in training to grow knowledge of the company, products, and services.
