Job summary

Penske is hiring a Technician in Madison, AL. You will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a modern fleet, using Penske tools and technologies to diagnose and complete repairs.

The role involves learning through our technician training program and working with experienced supervisors to grow your career. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic mechanical aptitude, and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive/diesel repair experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and ability to work outdoors.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to follow instructions and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
  • Use Penske tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and some electrical/cooling system work on gas and diesel engines.
  • Partner with manager to learn new skills through Penske training and coaching.
  • Work on additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
