Job summary

Amwaste is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel-powered waste collection trucks and equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and service vehicles on the 2nd shift (hours 10:00 am to 8:00 pm).

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles.
• Skills in the use of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in welding.
• Skill in troubleshooting and identifying problems and in devising related solutions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots vehicle and equipment operations problems, diagnoses and subsequently makes repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules.
• Adjusts, repairs or replaces parts and equipment.
• Attends safety meetings and classes.
• Maintains tools and equipment.
• Maintains a safe and tidy shop.
• Welds and fabricates parts as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
