Job summary

Amwaste is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and repair waste collection trucks and equipment on the 3rd shift (8:00pm–6:30am).

The role requires diagnosing vehicle and equipment issues, performing repairs, and maintaining tools while adhering to safety standards. The position offers competitive pay and a rich benefits package, including a 401(k), with paid vacation from day one.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles.
• Proficiency with maintenance tools and equipment used on vehicles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Welding experience and skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment operation problems, diagnose and perform repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to standard schedules.
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and equipment.
• Attend mandatory safety meetings and mandatory training classes.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and keep the shop clean and organized.
• Weld and fabricate parts as needed.
• Execute related duties as assigned.
