Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Rockford, Illinois — providing a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles, with a second shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

You'll have access to state-of-the-art diagnostics, a comprehensive benefits package after 30 days, and opportunities for certification bonuses and quarterly bonuses. A CDL Class A is preferred, with CDL within 6 months required to proceed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Two or more years of classroom training or work experience in mechanical repair.
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months and pass Ryder drug test.
• Pass a DOT physical, road test, and Ryder background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer.
• Identifies root cause and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety/DOT/MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required.
