Job summary

Thermo King Northeast in Buffalo, NY is seeking a full-time Diesel Technician for the 2nd shift. You will perform preventive maintenance and diagnostic/repair work on a fleet of medium and heavy‑duty vehicles, following established procedures in a modern, well‑heated shop.

The role requires a high school diploma or technical training and at least five years in automotive, truck, or bus repair. You must own the proper hand tools and hold a valid driver's license; NY inspector certification is

• Valid driver's license; NY inspector certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Performs diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles.
• Follow established technical and administrative processes.
• Complete repair orders and parts usage forms.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members & customers.
• Remain current on technical & regulatory requirements.
• Perform road service calls as required.

• Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $45.00
• Schedule: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and service inspections on a variety of medium and heavy-duty vehicles
• Performs diagnostic and repair work on all types of vehicles

• Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members & customers
• Remain current on technical & regulation requirements
• Perform road service calls as required

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma, technical school, or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of automotive, truck, or bus repair.
• Valid driver's license & New York State motor vehicle inspector certificate (preferred, but not required).: Valid driver's license & New York State motor vehicle inspector certificate (preferred, but not required).
• Tools & Equipment: Own and maintain the proper hand tools to perform job functions.
• Skills & Competencies: Proficient with computer operation and usage.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, stand, walk, and work in and around vehicles for extended periods.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely.
