Job summary

Thermo King Northeast is seeking a Refrigeration Technician for the Buffalo, NY location. This full-time, 2nd shift role focuses on preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of transport refrigeration units (TRU) and auxiliary power units (APU).

The job requires EPA refrigeration certifications and a valid driver’s license. On-site work in a modern shop with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in refrigeration/HVAC equipment installation and/or repair.
• EPA 608/609 refrigeration certifications.
• Skills to sufficiently install, diagnose and repair refrigeration equipment.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, materials, methods & equipment to perform, prioritize and complete job assignments.
• Own & maintain the proper hand tools to perform job functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent, technical trade school a plus.
• Proficient with computer operation/usage.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A New York State motor vehicle inspector certificate is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance & service inspections on TRU & APU units.
• Perform diagnostic, repair work on mobile refrigeration equipment, APUs & heater equipment.
• Follow established technical & administrative processes.
• Complete repair orders & parts usage forms.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members, & customers.
• Remain current on technical & regulation requirements.
• Perform road service calls as required.

Position Requirements

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, stand, walk, and work in and around vehicles for extended periods.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely.
