Job summary

Fraley & Schilling, Inc. in Rushville, IN is seeking a Diesel Technician to perform maintenance on commercial trucks and equipment. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair components, ensuring safe and efficient operation and keeping accurate service records.

The role requires repairing major systems, conducting test drives, and continuously updating knowledge through education opportunities. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered for qualified technicians willing to join our team.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer skills and ability to diagnose and program changes with specific tools.
• Knowledge of Conestoga repairs.
• Ability to weld metal and aluminum.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to rebuild dolly legs and doors.
• Ability to replace crossmembers and repair bogies.
• Must be able to perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of mechanic maintenance on commercial motor vehicles to ensure safe operation.
• Inspect and diagnose vehicles, identify worn or damaged parts, and plan repairs.
• Keep equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules.
• Repair major components and systems including A/C, brakes, steering, engine and drive train.
• Verify performance with test drives and adjust controls as needed.
• Maintain vehicle records and document damages and servicing.
• Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions and safety protocols.
• Contain costs by evaluating warranty, service and parts options and seeking value.
