Job summary

Hendrickson Fire Rescue is seeking experienced Diesel Technicians (Level A/B) for emergency fleet repair in Islandia, NY. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics on specialized emergency vehicles.

Ongoing training and a family-owned environment support career growth. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in professional diesel repair, with experience servicing emergency vehicles and fabricating parts as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a professional diesel repair business.
• Experience working on emergency vehicles is preferred.
• Ongoing training to develop skills in diesel fleet repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics on emergency vehicles.
• Perform vehicle maintenance including tire service, shocks, wheel alignments, and electrical diagnostics.
• Use schematics and manuals to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues.
• Fabricate or modify parts using hand/power tools, welding equipment as needed.
• Follow safety protocols and document all repairs in service records.

GOOD PAY - We offer a pay plan that includes performance-based bonuses so when the shop does better, you do better! Our pay ranges from $80K - $120K per year

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate would have 3+ years under their belt working in a professional diesel repair business. This role offers the opportunity to work on specialized emergency vehicles, perform critical repairs, and develop your skills through ongoing training.

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and other heavy-duty systems on emergency vehicles
• Conduct vehicle maintenance including tire service, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and electrical diagnostics
• Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
• Fabricate or modify parts using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques as needed
• Follow safety protocols diligently while performing repairs and maintenance tasks
• Document all repairs and maintenance activities accurately in service records
