Ryder in Middleton, Wisconsin is seeking a mid-level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles on a second shift (2:30 pm – 12:30 am). The role offers weekly pay, certification bonuses, quarterly bonuses, and a host of benefits including training, 401(k) match and PPE allowances.

You will diagnose mechanical and electronic issues, work with diagnostic tools, and uphold safety and regulatory standards while interacting with customers and drivers to identify issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including preventive maintenance.
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred.
• CDL Class A license, preferred; obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Must pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, road test and background check for last 3 years.

• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Follows safety, DOT, MOT and corporate compliance guidelines.
• Performs other support duties to support operations.

• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
