Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair fleet equipment in our maintenance facility.

The role responsibilities include preventive maintenance per DOT standards, performing repairs on tractors, trailers, and related gear, and documenting work in the fleet system. You’ll work with senior techs, keep a clean, safe work area, and may pursue additional certifications.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.
  • Read and write legibly; basic math skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
  • Assist senior technicians with repairs.
  • Document repairs and parts used in fleet system tablet.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment per safety rules.
  • Willingness to obtain increased responsibilities and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

BASIC PURPOSE

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Our Diesel Mechanics start at $ $26.00 to $28.00 hour depending on experience!

Schedule:

Sunday- Thursday 11pm-7:30am

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.

  • Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).

  • Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.

  • Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.

  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager

  • External: N/A

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Onsite : The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule.

  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.

  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.

  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job‑related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSES
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification

  • Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system

  • Previous mechanical and PM program experience

  • Experience using fleet maintenance software

  • Welding ability

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $26.00 -$28.00

This role may also receive overtime compensation & retention bonus
