Job Description: Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines and other mechanical components of vacuum trucks and roll off trucks. The ideal candidate will have experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance, as well as knowledge of vacuum and roll off truck systems. The Diesel Mechanic will work closely with other members of the maintenance team to ensure that all trucks are in good working order and meet safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and other mechanical components of vacuum trucks and roll off trucks
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems with vacuum and roll off truck systems
  • Replace worn or damaged parts as needed
  • Perform safety inspections on trucks and ensure that they meet all safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
  • Work closely with other members of the maintenance team to ensure that all trucks are in good working order
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic
  • Has their own tools
  • Experience with vacuum trucks and roll off trucks
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements
  • Pass drug screen, physical and safety sensitive background check.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Work effectively in a team environment that is dynamic, with diverse employee populations.
  • Wear required personnel protective equipment including gloves, respirators, safety glasses, foot protection and hard hats.
  • Lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Sit periodically and for extended periods of time; climb ladders and stairs, reach below knees and above shoulders; kneel and crawl to access work areas.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop; reach forward and grasp for periods of time.
  • Balance while walking on wet and slick surfaces, metal grates, narrow platforms, and uneven surfaces.
  • Work in loud, cold, hot, wet and dry environments; both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.
