Job description

Join to apply for the Diesel Technician role at GFL Environmental Inc.

Under the guidance of shop leadership, conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to ensure GFL’s fleet remains safe and operational.

Essential Functions:

1. Diagnose, repair, and maintain GFL’s Diesel and CNG fleet under supervision.
2. Perform inspections of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts.
3. Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs.
4. Conduct electronic diagnostics and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
5. Perform DOT and brake inspections on all vehicles.
6. Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform administrative duties.
7. Follow scheduled work and safety regulations.
8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and related regulations.
• Effective communication skills across organizational levels and with external vendors.
• Ability to interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents.
• Experience with diagnostic software preferred; computer literacy required.
• Class A or B CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within six months.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of diesel/CNG maintenance experience.

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to operate trucks and equipment, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions.
• Must have visual acuity and the ability to focus.
• Continuous mental concentration required.
