Qualifications

Position Description

We are immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Senior Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Billings, MT.

  • Hourly Pay: $32.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: Second Shift 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational, technical certifications, or post-secondary degrees preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance, diagnostics, AC, and electrical systems
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid CDL Class A preferred
  • All certifications required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with heavy and medium-duty equipment repairs and diagnostics
  • Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Driving Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background, and motor vehicle checks

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and component replacements
  • Conduct facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
  • Utilize shop management and electronic documentation systems
  • Follow all safety and compliance guidelines
  • Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Access and use maintenance documents
  • Support operations as needed, including service island duties
  • Complete SBTIII training within 180 days
  • Complete OEM diagnostic software courses as required
