Job summary

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, seeks a Diesel Technician in Baton Rouge, LA, to repair, refurbish and maintain engine driven generators and welding equipment. The role involves assembling equipment for rental, testing functionality, ordering parts, and ensuring safety in a busy shop environment.

On-site work Monday–Friday with a strong safety focus. Required is a high school diploma; a valid driver's license is preferred, plus experience with generator repair, diesel engines, and PLC

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Valid Driver License preferred.
  • Experience repairing generator equipment a must.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines and PLC controllers is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, refurbishes, and maintains engine driven generators and welding equipment.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines.
  • Assembles diesel power generator equipment for rental and tests functionality.
  • Orders parts and documents all repairs and maintenance.
  • Operates forklifts or pallet jacks to move equipment and supports off-site service.

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Branch Manager and in conjunction with the Shop Supervisor, the incumbent repairs, refurbishes, and maintains engine driven generators and ensures a safe working environment.

Maintains a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.

Repairs, maintains, and refurbishes all Engine Driven Power Generators, with a secondary focus on engine driven welding equipment.

Assembles diesel power generator equipment for rental. Tests and calibrates machines to see if they are functional for rent or sale. Performs paint touch ups and replaces worn and missing decals to maintain general appearance of welding equipment.

Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required. Identifies proper parts and their numbers needed for repairs, orders parts as required to complete those repairs through parts or Branch Coordinator.

Inspects returned Generator equipment for proper operation and/or damage by the customer.

Operates a forklift, pallet jack or other necessary equipment load and upload equipment from vehicles and move equipment around the branch. Ensures a clean and organized work environment at all times. Properly documents all repairs and maintenance. Required to service equipment and customers off-site. Maintains communication with all branch personnel.

Maintaining generators, diagnosing and repairing problems, or installing and replacing components or entire systems. Performs related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma required.

Preferred Qualifications

A Valid Driver License and good driving record.

Generator repair experince.

Diesel engine knowledge.

PLC engine and generator controllers experience.
