Job summary

Butler Machinery Co is seeking future Caterpillar Diesel Technicians through the ThinkBIG program, a two-year blend of classroom and lab at Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, SD, with paid internships at our CAT dealerships. Participants earn an Associate of Applied Science in Diesel Technology, rotating between LATC and internships.

Graduates enter full-time technician roles with starting pay at $32.73/hour and have opportunities for advancement across North Dakota, South Dakota,

Qualifications

• High school junior or senior to apply
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must be 18 by first internship

• Accepted by LATC by its deadline
• Basic mechanical theory knowledge
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Able to meet insurability standards to drive company vehicle
• Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while in the program
• Complete the required internship hours (1,280)
• Be punctual for work and school
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Work independently and in a team
• Tuition, books, housing, tools and fees are not covered by the scholarship
• Arrange housing for school and internship locations
• Commit to lifelong learning and training to stay current with industry standards
• Must lift up to 70 lbs
• Other duties as assigned
