Job summary

Butler Machinery Co. offers a ThinkBIG program for aspiring Caterpillar Diesel Technicians.

It combines classroom and lab education at Lake Area Technical College (LATC) in Watertown, SD with paid internships at our CAT dealership network. Graduates earn an AAS in Diesel Technology and transition to full-time technician roles at Butler locations across North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana, with starting pay $32.73/hour.

Qualifications

• Must have basic mechanical theory knowledge.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer technology skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Must meet insurability standards to drive a company vehicle.
• Must have valid work authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while in the program.
• Complete the required internship hours (1,280).
• Be prepared and on time for work and school.
• Proactively maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Work independently as well as part of a team.
• Tuition, books, housing, tools and fees not covered by scholarship.
• Secure housing arrangements at school and internship location.
• Commit to lifelong learning and training to stay ahead of industry standards.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Other duties as assigned.
