Job summary

Boss Shop in Altoona, IA is hiring a Shop Diesel Mechanic/Technician to perform mechanical repairs and provide excellent customer service. The role includes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs across engines, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Must have Air Brake Certification.
• DOT Medical Card required.
• ASE certifications preferred; Shop Technician IV must obtain or maintain listed within one year of promotion.
• Section 609 HVAC certification required for HVAC service.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance, tire services, and emergency road service calls.
• Conducts DOT inspections and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Performs service calls, including night and on-call assignments.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems using J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software.
• Complete work orders with labor, parts, and warranty information.
• Perform engine, cooling, fuel, turbo, oil system, and related repairs.
• Diagnose and repair emissions, drivetrain, wheel-end, air system, ABS, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and safety, and mentor junior staff as needed.
