Job summary

Savannah Logistics Group seeks a Diesel Shop Manager to lead the shop team, oversee rolling assets, and ensure safety and efficiency in maintenance operations. You will drive performance standards, budgeting, and timely invoicing while adhering to industry regulations.

The role requires extensive fleet/ diesel experience, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. This is a full-time, on-site position with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 15 years of related experience in fleet management, operations or general management.
• Minimum 10 years diesel technician experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR regulations.
• Effectively manage 10+ employees.
• Minimum 5-10 years parts experience; truck experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Maintenance TMS software and related tools.
• Experience or certification with specific manufacturer is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight and planning of the shop and rolling assets.
• Create and maintain efficient shop standards (SRTs, KPI, SOPs).
• Maintain DOT, FMCSA, OSHA compliance and safety policies.
• Manage parts inventories and control costs versus budget.
• Oversee preventive maintenance scheduling and processes.
• Interview, train and assess staff performance.
• Build relationships with OEMs and external vendors.
• Develop and implement Safety and Health programs.
