Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC in Knoxville, TN seeks a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repair under supervision as part of a development program toward Service Journeyman status.

You will work on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, and brakes; will participate in training sessions, maintain tools, and follow safety practices. CDL preferred; on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or assists in general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision and performs troubleshooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings; maintains a neat and orderly work area; uses company tools properly.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary; follows safety procedures; performs other duties as assigned.
