Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs, including adjusting/testing steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and engine components, in accordance with all relevant federal, state/provincial, and local guidelines. Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs resolve the issues.
  2. Arrange for and obtain necessary inspections and approvals for major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  3. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in compliance with all relevant guidelines and requirements.
  4. Identify and report additional maintenance or repairs needed during assigned tasks, including those requiring higher qualification levels.
  5. Accurately record time, parts used, and repairs conducted on appropriate forms.
  6. Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  7. Report unsafe maintenance conditions or vehicle abuse to the Lead Technician.
  8. Exhibit highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisors.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two to four years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
  • Skills in diagnostics, electrical systems, and air conditioning are essential.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment required.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems preferred.
  • Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a diesel technician.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Valid applicable state license; CDL preferred. Company offers free training for mechanics.
  • ASE certification is desirable but not mandatory.
