Qualifications

Pay range: $15.00 - $32.00 per hour DEQ plus $8.00/billed hour commission.

Responsibilities

The Shop Diesel Mechanic/Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs efficiently and professionally.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform PMs and oil changes.
  • Grease trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct tire services.
  • Perform CSA/DOT inspections.
  • Handle service calls and night call outs.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Complete wheel end repairs, including s-cam/bushing replacements, spindle repairs, and bearing replacements.
  • Perform air system repairs, including diagnostics and component replacements.
  • Conduct HVAC repairs such as evacuate & recharge and fault diagnosis.
  • Handle coolant system repairs like thermostat, water pump, hoses, and radiator replacements.
  • Perform basic welding.
  • Diagnose and repair starting/charging systems.
  • Perform engine repairs like belt and pulley replacements.
  • Work on steering and suspension components.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure tools and equipment are in good condition.
  • Complete work orders with detailed information.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and uphold company standards.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete OSHA Skills Demonstration within the first week.
  • Stay current with LMS training modules.
  • Provide friendly customer service.
  • Report to work on schedule.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • TIAR Tire Service Certified within 18 months.
  • Air Brake Certification.
  • DOT Medical Card.
  • Minimum two years of diesel technician experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • Complete brake and wheel seal training.
  • Attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training.
  • Obtain ASE, DOT, TIA, and other relevant certifications.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and phone.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Willingness to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members.
  • Proficiency in Tech I training requirements.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands include occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs., and frequently standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing.
