Job summary

Woodgrain in Independence, VA is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform PMs and repairs on rolling stock including wheel loaders, forklifts, knuckle booms, tractor trailers and trailers. Ensure safety and timely completion; coach others as needed in a sawmill setting.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, reading service manuals, fabricating parts, welding, and maintaining hydraulics and power trains. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Associate's degree or equivalent training preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work with management and hourly personnel.
• Perform PMs and repairs on rolling stock and equipment.
• Inspect and diagnose irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power train and hydraulics.
• Read service manuals and fabricate parts as needed.
• Welding and fabrication; maintain clean, safe workspace.
