Woodgrain in Independence, VA is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform PMs, repairs, and troubleshooting on rolling stock within a sawmill environment. The role emphasizes safety and timely completion of assignments, with training and coaching opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prefer associate’s degree or equivalent years of relevant training.
• 2 or more years of experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Perform PMs and repairs on rolling stock (wheel loaders, forklifts, knuckle booms, tractors, trailers).
• Inspect and examine rolling stock and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain powertrain and hydraulics on rolling stock.
• Parts ordering and inventory management.
• Read and follow service manuals and operate shop tools.
