Job summary

Didion Milling, Inc. in Cambria, Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Equipment Mechanic with a diesel and heavy equipment background to support mill operations.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair a wide range of mobile and industrial equipment, and respond to breakdowns to keep production moving. You will work mainly in our mill operations, with additional support for the Bioscience facility as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working on multiple types of heavy equipment and mobile machinery.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to respond to equipment emergencies, particularly locomotives and forklifts.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must provide and maintain personal mechanic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on a wide range of mobile and industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, brake, transmission, and diesel engine systems.
• Respond to breakdowns and equipment emergencies with urgency and professionalism.
• Maintain and repair payloaders, semi tractors and trailers, yard dogs, forklifts, locomotives, scissor lifts and welding equipment.
• Perform basic electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Support OSHA inspections and maintain safe work practices.
• Travel periodically to our Markesan location (typically once per week) and support other Didion facilities as needed.
• Work collaboratively across departments to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
