Job summary

Cemex US is hiring a Mechanic to diagnose and repair diesel tractors, trailers and other wheeled vehicles. You will inspect, repair and replace components, and ensure compliance with safety and OSHA standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience, plus a clean driving record; CDL/Hazmat credentials and welding skills are a plus. The role may require regional travel and on-site work at Cemex facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years related experience or training.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions in English; Spanish is a plus.
• Valid driver's license; Class A/B CDL preferred or obtainable within 180 days.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• TWIC preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Welding/cutting experience with gas and electric equipment encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel tractors, trailers, and other wheeled vehicles.
• Discuss complex repairs with Terminal Manager or Supervisor.
• Enforce Cemex safety policies and regulations for all mechanics.
• Make sure shop and repairs comply with OSHA requirements.
• Perform routine scheduled maintenance per PM checklist.
• Plan all routine work procedures and priorities.
• Raise vehicles for access to components with jack or hoist.
• Replace components such as alternators, starters, pumps, brakes, and more.
• Disassemble, inspect wear parts, and determine failure causes.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety rules; wear PPE at all times.
• Occasionally travel regionally to repair company equipment.
