Job summary

State of Indiana is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for the Monticello Shop. You will perform major and minor repairs on heavy equipment, diesel and gasoline engines, and light vehicles. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, maintaining records, and performing field service calls.

Qualifications

• CDL with either Class A or Class B; must be obtained within first 90 days.
• Strong knowledge of automobile systems, repairs, and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with safety practices in heavy equipment repair.
• Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and repair procedures.
• Willingness to work at a Monticello INDOT shop and perform on-site diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, replace, and repair major parts on cars, light and heavy trucks and equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance such as tire changes and injector servicing.
• Install snowplow blades and repair plow assemblies.
• Maintain EMS records of parts and work performed.
• Service highway equipment in the field and fabricate metal components as needed.
• Diagnose issues in gas and diesel engines and perform inspections.
• Attend training, safety meetings, and coordinate parts orders as required.
