Job summary

The State of Indiana, through INDOT Evansville Sub-District, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to repair and maintain a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment. The role requires CDL or within 90 days to obtain one, and emphasizes safety, documentation, and hands-on diagnostics.

You'll diagnose and repair diesel engines, replace parts, perform winter operations duties, and maintain EMS records. CDL training is provided onsite, with opportunities for growth and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs.
• Ability to diagnose using diagnostic equipment and follow safety precautions.
• High school diploma or equivalent acceptable with 1+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Repair major parts on cars, light trucks, heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and tire changes; service diesel injectors and hydraulic components.
• Install snowplow blades and repair plow assemblies.
• Maintain EMS records of parts used and work performed.
• Service highway equipment in the field and fabricate metal as needed.
• Attend required trainings and order parts as directed by supervisor.
