Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The Diesel Mechanic will diagnose and repair vehicle performance issues, focusing on trucks (Kenworth) systems and components. Responsibilities also include maintaining repair shop equipment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, including brake chambers, glad hands, tires, rims, batteries, and air/coolant hoses.
- Perform preventative maintenance and complete work orders, including parts ordering.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and drivers.
- Conduct thorough diagnostic and preventative maintenance inspections.
- Complete scheduled PM operations such as lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotations.
- Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed.
- Handle complex repairs involving engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust systems, interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Utilize ladders and elevation equipment to access vehicle and facility components.
- Operate CDL and non-CDL vehicles for road tests and shuttle duties, adhering to DOT regulations.
- Lift heavy equipment (up to 100 lbs) such as brake drums, tires, and tools.
- Document repairs and parts accurately on work orders.
- Follow all safety standards, including OSHA provisions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or completion of a diesel service technician training program preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills required.
