Job summary

Metalico is seeking a Maintenance Diesel Mechanic to service on-road and yard equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot diesel engines. The role involves working across multiple yard locations with a focus on safety and reliability.

Applicants should have a technical certification or relevant training, a valid license, and the ability to work independently or in a team, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Certification from an accredited technical school or 1–2 years of related work experience or training.
• Preferred experience in diesel mechanics, maintenance principles and repair practices.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Knowledgeable about use of basic hand and power tools and their safe handling.
• Understanding of engine components, bearings, gears, belts, and lubrication.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle maintenance on fuel trucks and other equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on diesel vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings.
• Use diagnostic tools to test components and ensure proper operation.
• Perform quality inspections and basic repairs on transmissions.
• Adhere to safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.
