Job summary

Smithfield Foods in North Carolina is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet. Start pay $24.65 per hour or more based on experience; requires diesel experience, valid driver's license and good driving record.

You will perform repairs, diagnose issues, and participate in safety programs, with opportunities for weekend work and on-call support. Must be able to lift 100 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience or 4 years' direct diesel mechanic experience.
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree in maintenance (preferred).
• Proficiency in diesel engine diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance in a productive, SAFE manner.
• Informs the lead technician when a task is complete and another is needed.
• Diagnoses problems and tests repairs; documents time and parts used.
• Assists/trains other mechanics as required.
• Follows company safety policies and environmental guidelines.
