Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is looking to fill a Diesel Mechanic role. As our Diesel Mechanic, you will perform diagnosis and preventive maintenance services, inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy-duty Diesel vehicles, trucks, and equipment. You will support all aspects of mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles, machines, equipment, and facilities. You will report to the local shop manager.

Reporting Line

Reports to the Fleet & Maintenance Director.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance services.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Work under limited supervision, following written instructions and established procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Use vehicle computer systems to interpret failure modes and initiate repairs.
• Estimate repair times and costs, requisition parts.
• Perform emergency breakdown service calls.
• Conduct annual safety checks on vehicles.
• Complete paperwork using fleet maintenance software to document repairs and parts usage.
• Assist other mechanics and review repair reports.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work legally in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent; automotive certification preferred.
• Strong safety knowledge, diagnostic skills, and ability to read schematics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina to lift heavy objects (up to 75 pounds).

Physical & Environmental Factors

• Ability to perform physical tasks with or without accommodations.
• Pre-employment screening including drug test, background check, and physical.
• Exposure to dirt, noise, weather elements; moderate supervision required.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate: $25 - $37. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k with employer match, paid time off, and life insurance. Final pay depends on experience and skills.
