Job summary

XPO is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in Montgomery, AL to perform maintenance on Class 6–8 diesel equipment, trailers, and related systems. You'll inspect, repair, and rebuild components, diagnose issues, and work across day shift.

The role requires 2 years of related experience or a tech school with heavy-duty certification, EPA HVAC cert within 90 days, and a valid driver's license. Benefits include health insurance, PTO, holidays, 401(k), and tool allowance.

Qualifications

• 2 years of tractor/trailer inspection and repair experience or a tech school with heavy-duty certification.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Basic welding and mechanical skills.
• Basic hand tools for heavy-duty maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Brake inspection knowledge per FMCSA 396.25.
• Vehicle inspection knowledge per FMCSA 396.19.
• Ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on Class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment.
• Inspect and repair equipment and components as needed.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform repairs.
• Perform HVAC system repairs.
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Conduct safety inspections and document findings.
• Move trailers and operate a hostler in various weather.
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Collaborate with operations and shop management.
