Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel trucks and equipment in a safety‑conscious setting.

You will perform PMI inspections, document parts usage and repair times, and support service calls while maintaining OSHA‑compliant work areas. Prior waste‑management or heavy equipment experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic.
• Computer diagnostics experience required.
• Experience in waste management or heavy equipment is a plus.
• Trade school or similar training is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel trucks and equipment.
• Perform PMI and repairs, replacing components as needed.
• Document parts usage and repair times using fleet software.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Support service calls for breakdowns as needed.
