Job summary

XPO is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing class 6–8 diesel equipment, with attention to safety and regulatory compliance. You’ll inspect, troubleshoot, and service trailers, tractors, and related machinery to ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills.
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA regulations 396.25.
• Vehicle inspection qualified per FMCSA regulations 396.19.
• Available to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing gear.
• Access equipment to perform maintenance and inspections.
• Repair or rebuild components and systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform repairs.
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and related regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections and document results as needed.
• Maintain proficiency with equipment and productivity-enhancing technologies.
• Move trailers with a hostler in all weather conditions.
• Log job times and parts on repair orders.
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles.
