Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical diagnostics and repair of vehicles and equipment including trailers and diesel-powered equipment.
• Repair drive chains, brake systems and components at an intermediate level.
• Maintain accurate parts inventory and report discrepancies to management.
• Keep work area clean and safe; follow DOT and company policies.
• Record data with maintenance software and manage return orders.
• Mentor Vehicle Technicians C as needed.

Diesel Maintenance Technician (B)

Job Overview

Vehicle Technician B will repair and maintain all types of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment; perform job duties independently with limited supervision; provide mentoring and assistance to Vehicle Technician C's as needed.

Shifts, Pay, and Benefits

• Shifts: 2nd shift, Mon-Fri, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
• Pay rate starting at: $28.50–$33.00 per hour, depending on skillset and experience
• Additional $1.50/hr shift differential

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment
• Repair drive chains, automatic braking systems, and other components at an intermediate level of experience and system knowledge
• Maintain accurate parts inventory, research and resolve inventory discrepancies, and notify maintenance management when a resolution is not available
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse
• Perform other tasks as determined and requested by management
• Use maintenance software to record data, ensure DOT compliance, and follow up on return orders
• Mentor Vehicle Technicians C, as needed; may perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Basic welding and cutting torch operation skills
• Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair skills
• Understanding of tire inflation systems
• Knowledge and ability to mount and dismount tires
• Basic diagnostic tool skills
• Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks
• Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards
• Professional and appropriate interaction with internal and external customers
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions for tools, equipment, machinery and materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools operate material handling equipment
• Must be capable of driving company equipment including class 8 tractors
• Flexible schedule with start and finish times that may vary, possibly including weekends and holidays
• Basic computer skills
• Each technician must provide their own tools

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge acquired through 3–5 years of relevant work experience
• D.O.T. Brake Inspection certification
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate
