Job summary

XPO in Columbus, OH is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice to perform routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, inspect and repair tractors and trailers, and support the shop with safety and compliance. You will learn under experienced technicians and follow DOT, EPA and OSHA rules in a dynamic environment.

The role offers competitive hourly pay ranging from the low to high 20s, plus a quarterly tool allowance, day-one health benefits, PTO, holidays, and a 401(k) with company match.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
• A valid driver’s license and availability for multiple shifts.
• Brake and Vehicle Inspection qualifications per FMCSA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment per schedules.
• Follow DOT, EPA, OSHA rules and safety procedures during work.
• Inspect equipment and document work; move trailers as required; maintain a clean, safe work area.
